10+ Fun Things to do at Rutland Water This Summer
1. Get on Your Bike!
With 3 official trails and hundreds of acres to explore, you can easily spend a whole day peddling about.
You don’t even need to own a bike, as you can hire one from Rutland Cycling.
Check out our cycling page for more info on trails, maps, and hire prices.
2. Check Out Normanton Church
Saved from a watery grave when the valley was flooded to create Rutland Water, Normanton Church is a striking and beautiful landmark.
From its unique position on the water, Normanton Church almost looks like it’s floating.
The best part? You can even get married there!

3. Get Soaked at the Aqua Park
Rutland Water boasts one of the biggest Aqua Parks in the UK.
For a 50 minute session you can tackle all sorts of challenging obstacles, including THE BEAST!

4. Ride the Rutland Belle
Not only can you wander around the water, you can ride on it as well!
The Rutland Belle is a rustic pleasure cruiser seating 110 people. You’ll get to see the beauty of Rutland Water from a unique perspective.
Great for taking fantastic photos, as well as just relaxing and taking in the scenery.
You can even hire the Belle for events and have the whole boat to yourself and your guests

5. Catch a Big One!
6. Freak Out at Bugtopia
7. Go to the Beach!
That’s right, we have a sandy beach! I know it’s hard to believe, so there’s a picture to prove it.
No need to drive all the way to the sea, just pop down to Sykes Lane and get tanning! Alternatively, pack your swimsuit and go for a dip. There’s nothing quite like it to cool off on a blistering summer day.
8. Get a Hole in One
Have you got the skill? There’s only one way to find out - on our mini golf course!
You can have a romantic round as a couple, get competitive with your mates, or get beaten by your kids.
And after all that fun, you can pop into the Four Foxes and have a bite to eat. Perfect.
9. Go Up The Creek
Explore the lake by hiring one of our kayaks, canoes or row boats. Just try not to fall in!
But don’t worry, you can hire a paddle!
Visit our Equipment Hire page for more info.
10. Check Out the Birds
Our Osprey Project started in 1996 with the aim of providing a base for ospreys to breed at the reserve.
These majestic birds are a fun challenge to try and spot, especially for kids!
If you’re into serious birdwatching, there are many interesting and varied species populating the reserve all year round.
So grab your binoculars and see how many you can spot!
11. Master the Elements
12. Be at One with Nature
Take a peaceful stroll around the park and admire the beautiful nature that surrounds you.
