Peak beach usage changes
The Beach at Sykes Lane, (post code LE15 8QL) is one of Rutland Water's most popular attractions and on hot days does get VERY, VERY busy.
To ensure the site runs smoothly, that traffic keeps moving and that we can provide the appropriate levels of facilities we adjust our operations during hot periods of weather and at our busiest times.
During busy periods you can expect to see:
- Increased staff presence
- Increased toilet facilities
- Increased first aid and medical facilities on site
- Car park stewards
- Overflow car park areas may be in use which are a short walk from the beach
To help us ensure your day runs as smoothly as possible we ask that you:
- Listen to the directions of our stewards, they are here to help
- Listen to the safety instructions of our lifeguards
- Raise all BBQ's off the grass
- Swim only in designated life guarded area
- Keep a close eye on your children, it's easy for them to become separated in a crowd
Who can visit the beach?
Everyone! Except dogs. There are plenty of other dog-friendly locations at Rutland Water for your pooch to enjoy!
For your safety:
The safety of visitors to our beach is important to us. Which is why we have trained lifeguards on watch throughout the summer season. We also regularly check the wind speed and direction as well as water temperature throughout the summer season to ensure the conditions are right.
We have also posted safety signage around the beach – do be sure to pay attention to it – it’s important!
View our beach safety signage, including what the different flags mean, below.
