We have three branches of volunteering at Rutland: Our Park Lovers, Park Ambassadors and Young Rangers.

PARK LOVERS

Our dedicated Park Lovers are responsible for caring and attending to Rutland Water and maintaining its greenery to ensure it remains a safe and clean place for visitors and the wildlife that live there.

When can I volunteer?

Our volunteering programme runs every week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

What will I be doing?

While volunteering duties can vary, some key duties include:

  • Hedgelaying

  • Coppicing

  • Woodland management

  • Wildflower meadow management

  • General gardening duties

  • Litter picking

  • Carpentry

  • Fencing

How will I benefit?

PARK AMBASSADORS

Our Park Ambassadors volunteer with us during our summer months, attending to Rutland Water and its visitors on site.

When can I volunteer?

Weekends from April to September.

What will I be doing?

  • Handing out leaflets
  • Answering questions
  • Giving directions
  • Being a presence on site

VOLUNTEER YOUNG RANGER PROGRAMME

The Rutland Water Young Ranger Programme is a one year voluntary programme for anyone ages between 16 and 21.

When can I volunteer?

The Rutland Water Young Ranger Programme is a one year voluntary programme for anyone ages between 16 and 21.

What will I be doing?

An individual has the opportunity to complete a variety of tasks and activities around Rutland Water each month to gain relevant skills and experience in conservation and working as a park ranger.

Fishing, walking, cycling, water sports

Our water parks not only bring vital water resources for the region, but they also provide a fantastic day out for all the family.
