Alton Water

Located within the stunning countryside of Suffolk, Alton Water Park stretches across some 400 acres and is the perfect place to while away an hour or a whole day.

If you are out for a leisurely stroll, then you are sure to benefit from the many walking trails and nature walks at Alton Water, for more adrenaline-filled action, there is the eight-mile cross country cycling track or a range of watersports on offer. There is also the opportunity to enjoy a day on the water fishing.

Fun facts

Alton Water has been supplying vital water resources to a large part of Suffolk for almost 50 years.

The reservoir was filled by the River Gipping, which involved pumping water for over 4 miles.

The water treatment works, built in 1987, treats around 10 million gallons of water a day – equivalent to around 250,000 baths!
