Pitsford Water week ending 16th October

Fish week 115 (Season 5973) Returns 70 (1231) Rod average 4.4 (4.85)

Pitsford continues to fish very well this week with a rod average of 4.4.

Boats are now catching well from several areas but fishing around the weed beds in the margins remains the most productive method with Shrimp and Fry the main food source.

Fish are well spread out and can now be found around the Gravels, Sailing Club Bay, Sailing Club bank and Duffers although Flats and Sermons remain the hotspots on the lake.

The best method from both boat and bank remains washing line tactics with fab or booby on point and hares ear/shrimp patterns in size 12 and 14 on the droppers, fished around the weed beds.

However some anglers using sunk lines and fry patterns have started to have success targeting the Browns or better Rainbows with several reported fish around the 5-6lb mark.

On Wednesday an Anglian Water staff team took on members of the Environment Agency in a friendly boat match. The match was fished to a 2 fish kill and catch and release with no Browns to be killed. Best boat pair for the EA weighed in 4 fish for 10lb15oz while the top AW pair had 4 fish for 12lb10oz. Biggest Rainbow in the match was 4lb15oz and there were several Browns caught and released up to an estimated 6-7lb. 38 anglers caught 146 fish for a rod average of 3.8 and nobody failed to catch.

Ravensthorpe Fur and Feather is fully booked and places are filling up for Pitsford fur and feather on Sunday 6th November so if you fancy it and the chance to win a nice hamper give the lodge a call on 01604781350!
