Grafham Water week ending 28th April 2024

Rod average - 4.0

Saturday saw us hosting the very popular Snowbee / Invicta floating line match. 88 anglers caught 296 fish with a rod average of 3.4. The average weight of the fish was 2lb 4oz. The best fish caught was 5lb 4oz. Anglers and the AW team had a fantastic day whith a lovely dinner and get together at the Harbour View Cafe in the evening.

Last week had been quite stable for wind directions. This week saw a lot more variety and movement. Temperatures went up and down with many cold spells. These changes influenced how active the fish were. Many anglers reported that the fish would switch on at different times of day.

Here are some recommendations and feedback from the catch returns:
- Washing line, buzzers
- Washing line method with floating shrimp and hare's ear patterns . Deep water point.
- Top 5 ft of water and caught with buzzers
- White booby and buzzer
- Hedge End. Fish very close (3 ft ) to bank in flat calm taking adult Buzzers
- Diawl bach and pink tadpole
- Hill farm, Pitsford pea
- They were in beautiful condition, bars of silver.

The North Shore remains the most popular destination, with Gaynes and the south shore left of the lodge having been mentioned today. One thing that we hear over and over again is what great condition the fish are in, the Grafham bars of silver.

Temperatures are predicted to rise over the next few days so that will make a change to the wintery conditions we have had this week.
