Fish week 140 (Season 5520) Returns 19 (726) Rod average 7.3 (7.6)

Pitsford has come back to life with both boat and bank fishing improving with the cooling conditions.

The combined rod average for the week includes the spinning returns but by far the best method has been fishing on the fly with dries outscoring other methods. Perhaps the standout return was from Keith Smith and Clive Wilkins who boat fished and fished dries all day to bring over 40 fish to the net. Cdc’s ,

Bob’s bits and Shipmans have all worked with drifts from the Dam out into open water producing. There is also a good head of fish throughout the Narrows and in Stone Barn bay.

Bank anglers have found fish tight in the margins feeding on the abundant Shrimp and pin fry and a successful method for these fish has been fishing a hares ear pattern underneath an indicator in the margins.

The tackle shop has just taken a delivery of both Flash Attack Craig Barr’s successful Shrimp patterns and Iain Barr WCC Ghimp patterns that have been accounting for huge numbers of fish at both Rutland and Grafham over the past few weeks.

Anglers are reminded that open water swimming sessions will be taking place at Pitsford commencing Saturday the 15th of July. These sessions will be within a well marked out area along the Sailing Club bank within Yellow marker buoys and anglers are asked to remain a minimum of 30 metres from these buoys during the sessions.
