Pitsford Water Week Ending 23rd April 2023

Fish week 528 (Season 2587) Returns 63 (348) Rod average 8.4 (7.4)

Although midweek we did suffer with some fairly horrible big easterly winds which made the conditions challenging, overall Pitsford fished well again this week to a rod average of 8.4 (this includes the Mid northants match that took place on Sunday the 16th.

Anglers are reporting that the fish well spread out through the lake and are catchable on a variety of methods. Fish can still be found relatively deep, but very obliging once a method is established.

Buzzers and Lures both are having their day, with the cold winds meaning that the buzzer fishing is yet to get into full swing with the best of it yet to come. Pulling lines are generally anything from a di3 down to a di7. Buzzers are best fished ‘straight lining’ or on the bung. However we have had the odd anglers reporting of catching on washing line as fish have moved up in the water column, but this generally remains the exception, but we expect this to become more common place as we head into May and the water warms.

We stocked in the small half and have had a a couple of reports of fishing being caught either side of the boats, but most anglers are choosing to head through to the big half.

Best areas: Bog bay Grange Farm Creek Rigby’s – Sermons Duffers Brixworth bay
