Pitsford Water week ending 18 October

Fish 210 (Season 7,700) Returns 45 (1,321) Rod average 4.6 (5.9)

The mild conditions have kept the fish on the feed and the bank has possibly out fished the boats this week with lots of fish feeding around the marginal weedbeds.

Browns continue to grace us with their presence. The best fish of over thirty caught and released by one of our season ticket holders was a 6lb 11oz beauty. The best rainbow of the week was a cracking fish of just a couple of ounces short of the magical 10lb.

Fish are being caught on a wide variety of tactics with such a mix of food on offer. Fry patterns are working as well as shrimp and snail, with dries working well too. One of our Pitsford regulars had three sessions from the bank and caught 29 fish on daddies and yellow owls. Elsewhere small hares ear in sizes 12 or 14 are taking fish in the margins.

Best Rainbow: 9lb plus.

Best Brown: 6lb 11oz

Beginners Courses: 31 October; 7 November. To book a place please call the lodge on 01604 781350.
