Pitsford Water week ending 11 September

Fish week 113 (Season 4933) Returns 38 (974) Rod average 1.8 (5.06)

The bank fishing has really come alive this week on Pitsford with scenes reminiscent of opening days gone by with anglers shoulder to shoulder along the Flats, Pitsford Creek and Sermons. Fish are gorging on the millions of shrimp in the margins with the odd snail and fry in stomach contents too.

With these fish now coming into the shallows the boat sport is more tricky but if you can fish onto the weedbeds or onto the dam you will catch. Washing line tactics with floating or slow tip lines teamed with size 12 and 14 hares ear/shrimp patterns are working best with crunchers also scoring well. There has been some daddies showing but no sign yet of the fry feeders though some anglers have had success fishing for the big Browns using Hummungus patterns. With a further stocking due this week and conditions improving daily the fishing looks set to really take off over the next few weeks.

Fish Stocked:18750 (1750 this week)
