Grafham Water week ending 9th July 2023

Fish caught - Fish returned - Fish killed - Returns - Rod average - 4.2

Grafham fished better last week due to some cooler weather and the odd drizzle. Fishing from the boat tended to be more popular as some of the banks are very weedy at the moment. Most Bank Anglers we spotted on the Fishing lodge harbour arms.

One angler reported 32 fish to the boat taken at the boils at the beginning of the week. Fish were caught down deep on Di7, snakes and other lure patterns. Another angler reported 10 fish to the boat at the middle of the week around G Buoy. He felt that small shrimp flies worked best for him. A large group of Invicta members fished at Grafham over the weekend and one pair fed back that having a blob on the point and a fab and hares ears on the line gave them satisfying results. Hares ears have been recommended to us in general over the last week. As have crunchers and snails. In addition to the boils and G Buoy many boat anglers enjoyed fishing at Deep Water Point this week.

The best fish that were reported back to us were rainbows with 4+ pounds and browns with 6+ pounds.

At the end of this week, we stocked 2000 rainbows from the south shore with average weight of 2 pounds.

Just a quick reminder to everyone who is looking to fish in the Marlow Bay area. Open Water Swimming sessions are running on Saturday afternoons and Sunday mornings throughout this summer. Please keep a distance of at least 20 metres from the course which can be identified by the yellow and red buoys in from to the beach area and the Willows.

From Saturday 15th July Grafham Water will open the new water sports facilities at Marlow Bay. Visitors will be able to hire Stand Up Paddleboards, Kayaks and the Pedalo. The water sports area will be marked out with buoys and brightly coloured swimming rope.
