Grafham Water week ending 28th May 2023

Fish caught - 416 Fish Killed – 178 Fish released – 238 Returns - 104 Rod average – 4

The Fishing at Grafham has certainly got harder over the last week and this is largely due to the unfavourable weather conditions.  Despite this, the rod average still sits at a respectable 4.0 and we are starting to see plenty of the over wintered Grafham torpedo’s make an appearance.

The best sport seems to be coming to lures and snakes pulled back fast, with most of the takes coming between 3 to 4 foot below the surface. Buzzers have been taking a few fish, but those who have been fishing washing line tactics have reported that most of the action is coming to a blob fished on the point. The Dam and the willows would be a good starting point and long drifts would appear to be the order of the day,  as the fish seem to be spread out and no longer shoaled up in the same areas.

The North shore, particularly G buoy and the Marlow arm is starting to switch on again and some good fish have been reported from those fishing from the bank early in the morning. The seat is also providing sport for those who have been fishing it as has Plummers.

The harbour arms don’t seem to getting fished much at the moment, but the rangers are reporting good numbers of fish moving amongst the boats throughout the day.

With the forecast warm for the week ahead we believe there is a good chance for some dry flie action, especially in the evenings and around the mouth of savages creek.

For any further information or tips on the day please speak to our friendly ranger team who are available on the pontoon until 10am daily.

We would also like to kindly remind bank anglers that day light must be visible between your legs whilst wading, and all brown trout must be returned alive.
