Fish 495 (Season 9,523) Returns 114 (2,161) Rod average 4.34 (4.4)
Considering the very hot weather Grafham has fished incredibly well this week. Those who braved the stifling heat were rewarded with quality bags of fish, not only coming from the boats, but the dam has also produced some excellent sport early in the morning.
Iain Barr has kindly written the following account of his day with us.
“It was a fast start at Grafham with 7 or 8 perfect rainbows in under the first hour!!! The first 10 minutes was frustrating but a small tweak and following rainbows turned into lockups!!!!! A simple change was to put a bigger eye booby on the point for maximum disturbance!! I fished two boobies and two wet flies in the middle on a fast glass. Fast sport continued until the lightening arrived which saw us bottle it and head for the lodge.
Some 90 minutes later we ventured out into a flat calm with the odd breath of wind coming from every direction possible multiple days in the day! Very annoying. Sport inevitably slowed as you barely moved but we continued to catch steadily in various spots through the middle ,G buoy, the Dam, The Seat, C buoy and in front of the lodge.
The hot weather doesn't seem to have affected the fish on Grafham!! Rising fish through the wind lanes early on was just amazing and great fun to catch them!! I do suspect there are plenty more fish lying very deep so next trip I'll be taking a look downstairs too!!!!
Grafham is on form so get booked up!!
If you want a mix of the boobies used they are available in the AW shops in the WCC packs...Standard Booby packs are the ones I used......”
