Rutland Water week ending 8 November

Fish 240 (Season 12,464) Returns 53 (2,771) Rod average 4.52 (4.49)

Rutland Water was in very good form last week; last Thursday the rod average was over 10 fish per rod. Unfortunately, for the time being during this second period of lockdown, all boat fishing has had to close. We hope to resume again after 2 December.

Bank fishing is still available to fly anglers. The fishing lodge harbour wall has been given some serious pressure, with good fish, including quality grown on rainbows (4lb) being caught. It’s well worth trying other areas of the reservoir with the water levels receding recently giving anglers more alternatives and the option to use fry patterns and nymphs. Although there have been hatches of small buzzer coming off in the mild conditions, so don’t ignore this if you see fish moving, with even a dry fly worth a try.

Although the tackle shop is closed during lockdown we are still available to take enquiries or for sales over the phone. Please call 01780 686442; open 8am to 2pm.

Best bank areas: Fishing Lodge Harbour, East Creek, Church Bay, Ernie’s Point.
