Fish week 1217 (Season 2045) Returns 101 (198) Rod average 12.04 (10.32)

The weather during the week was mostly wet and windy with more favourable conditions at the weekend. We had a rod average of 6.13 from the bank and 14.54 from the boat.

The weekend gave excellent fishing, fish have been caught in many areas including the top of both arms (winter restrictions lifted on the 1st April) Buzzers have given some great sport with a lovely 7lb brown being caught on a buzzer at the weekend and other notable over wintered fish have also been taken on buzzers with very good hatches occurring.

Lots of reports of fish movement on top of the water the areas included Sykes to Whitwell, Old Hall and Green Bank.

Boat areas

Most areas have produced fish again this week with the more notable numbers being taken from the Top of the arms, Old Hall, Barnsdale, Yellowstone and Dickinsons.

Methods

Various sinking lines have worked well but floating lines also especially at the weekend when conditions turned softer.

Flies used included lures, blobs and fabs have worked along with buzzers or crunchers on droppers.

Bank areas

North shore and south side of the peninsula.

Methods

Floating line with hare’s ear or buzzers fished on the point and dropper have produced along with lures and even dries.

Please could all anglers remember to fill in their catch returns, this data helps us manage the fishery.
