Rutland Water Week Ending 23rd April 2023

A great week of sport at Rutland despite  some rough weather. Rutland has been on fine form for both boat and bank angler - grown on browns, large numbers of rainbows, overwintered rainbows, buzzers, nymphs, lures and even dries have taken fish. The spread of fish is fantastic giving many different options especially important with the weather this week. Fantastic hatches of buzzer continued when the weather calmed and the temperature rose slightly with it coming as no surprise buzzers are featuring heavily in the tactics again this week. Straight lined and the washing line have all produced for anglers this week along with blobs and various lures. Towards the end of the week we have seen more fish moving in locations such as Stocky Bay, Yellowstone, Old Hall and Green Bank.
 
The week saw the Army out for 3 days and at the weekend we held the AMFC Well done to everyone that took part and congratulations to the winners.

Once again Di5 on those days with more wind, pulling booby’s/blobs. Buzzers and nymphs on full floater or tip line when conditions allow more control.

Floating line with hare’s ear or buzzers fished on the point and dropper have produced along with lures and even dries such as small CDC.
 
 
Please could all anglers remember to fill in their catch returns, this data helps us manage the fishery.
 
Boat availability is getting low on some days so to avoid disappointment call the lodge on 01780 686441.
 
As a reminder remember all Brown Trout must be returned at all times. If you can’t return a brown, then it must be handed into one of our fishery staff.
 
Anglers parking is only permitted in designated parking areas on the peninsula, disabled bay, sailing club, New Zealand Point.
