Pitsford Water Week Ending 23rd July 2023

Fish killed & released 151 (Season 5804) Returns 30 (783) Rod average 5.0 (7.4)

Shrimp continue to dominate the menu for the Trout on Pitsford being by far the most successful method for catching this week.

The various immitations from Iain Barr Ghimp patterns through Craig Barrs Hibrid Shrimps and various other hares ear variants fished on floating lines around the weed in the margins has proved to be the most productive method for most with some cracking fish falling for these patterns.

There are also fish out in the open water both in the main basin and also in the Narrows. These fish are high in the water and will readily come to dries when conditions are favourable but alternatively fish a Floater or Midge tip line with fab on point and a team of Diawls and Crunchers and you should find fish in the top three feet.

We are starting to see some pinfry activity and the predator anglers are reporting lots of bait fish on their fish finders so expect some fry feeder action in the coming weeks.
