Ravensthorpe week ending 22nd October 2023

Fish killed & released (season ), Catch returns (season ), Rod average (season )

Over the last two weeks the fishing has really started to pick up and for those who have ventured out there has been some fantastic successes.

Fish have been showing around the margins, taking Shrimp patterns, Hoppers and Hairs Ears. There is an abundance of Shrimp around the weed with a Fab or Blob on the point.

Other tactics have been sinking lines with Humungous or Snake patterns. Those fish that have been caught are in fine condition.

With temperatures now cooling it is only a matter of time before the someone is going to be in for a bonanza.

As we get into late October it has been the norm that the fish migrate down towards the dam and pontoon after the fry and this appears to be the case with those fish being caught on drifts down the middle towards the dam.

Another tactic worth a try is buzzers. This is a fly ignored by most late on in the season but there has been a lot of buzzer shucks scattered across the water surface which is a clear indication that fly is hatching off.

To top it off we have the Ravensthorpe Fur & Feather match coming up on Sunday 29th October. This is a pairs match with up 16 fish to the boat (but only pay for 8 )! To book your place please telephone the Ravensthorpe Fishing Lodge 01604 770875. Boats are limited so please book to avoid disappointment.
