Pitsford Water Week Ending 8th October 2023

Fish killed & released 184 (Season 7364) Returns 36 (1093) Rod average 5.1 (6.7)

With Rainbows up to 6lb plus and Browns to 8lb being reported Pitsford is producing some quality full finned, hard fighting fish at the moment.

The Mid Northants Trout fishers held their Fur and Feather boat match on Sunday, the match being fished to a total measure catch and release format with the first four fish being measured. At the end of the match it was clear that most anglers who caught fish had caught very good fish with many over 50cms equating to around the 4lb mark. David Keeble had the best 4 fish total of 205cms.

The best methods are still fishing around the weedbeds with Shrimp patterns. Dries such as Grunter will work as will Foam Daddies. There are fish in most areas of the lake with Stone Barn, Narrows, Pines Flats and Sailing Club frontage being best spots.

With a further stocking of 2700 fish due this week the sport is set to continue into the back end of the season.
