Pitsford Water week ending 22 September

Fish 448 (Season 13,594) Returns 114 (2,581) Rod average 4.0 (5.3)

It has been another cracking week on Pitsford with both bank and boats fishing well and lots of good quality fish being reported.

Several nice Browns between 4-6lb have been reported with Hank Needham having a lovely fish of 5lb 13oz and Laurence Arnold reporting one at 5lb 5oz.

Season ticket holder Barry Sheddon has had a quite incredible week on the bank catching and releasing 71 fish. Sailing Club bank and Gravels bank have fished well with fish close in feeding on shrimp.

In open water through the Narrows and in the main basin fish are being caught on crunchers and buzzer patterns or with pulled wets. Some fish are also starting to come to fry patterns.

Charity match in aid of Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis 22 September

This match was organised by season ticket holder Charlie Watts and was won by Fraser Duffy Jnr who caught 14 fish for 28lb 12oz. Second place went to Bob Aves who took 9 fish for 20lb 12oz. The best fish was a 5lb 13oz Brown caught by Hank Needham. This match raised £1,233 for charity and the anglers enjoyed a barbecue afterwards.

A monthly open session for beginners at Pitsford where fully trained instructors are on hand to offer advice on fly casting, fly tying and water craft. Non members welcome. All sessions are 2-5pm
