Pitsford Water Week Ending 14th April 2024

Rod Average - 4.0

The blustery cold conditions have affected the fishing this week and this has shown in the rod average which is still reasonable at 4 but is down on where it has been.

The water temperature has not dropped significantly though and the buzzer are still coming off in numbers the problem is being able to present the flies in the strong winds.

The key is to fish the sheltered banks where nymphs and buzzers will still work.

Shrimp are starting to be found around the margins again and over the next few weeks we should start to get more action around the margins on this food source. The fishing lodge has been freshly supplied with various Shrimp imitation patterns from Iain Barr WCC and Craig Barr Flash Attack flies.

For those targeting our resident Browns the best method is still fishing that bit deeper using fry type patterns though in the past two years the biggest Brown of the season has come to buzzer patterns fished in April and May.

Best areas to try are Sailing Club, Brixworth Bay, Bog Bay and Duffers.

Pitsford is due to receive 2500 fish on Tuesday.
