Fish killed & released 74 (Season 6142) Returns 20 (861) Rod average 3.7 (7.1)

Not the kindest weather this past week, with lots of big westerlies, periods of bright sunshine and heavy showers which made the fishing tougher than it could have overwise been. That said, some anglers caught a break with the weather and were able to make the most of it, with some boats getting into double figures.

Shrimp again is one of the most reliable food sources, with anglers looking to present their flies in the gaps in the weed. The weed-beds are currently rich with food, not only do they hold shrimp, they are also holding snails and harbouring fry. So, lure patterns are also worth a punt around the weed-beds, just be aware of the jack pike though!

Away from the weed-beds, the basin is another area worth targeting, obviously the aerators will hold fish, but it is also worth trying long drifts with washing line or fish dry fly tactics blind as sometimes fish will be sat just under the surface.

Areas worth trying: Sermons, the Gravels, the Cliffs, the flats, the basin (boats). Bank anglers will need to adapt to the weed, which means finding gaps/holes in the weed or fishing over it.
