Pitsford Water week ending 12 September

Fish week 79 (Season 8,705) Returns 27 (1,496) Rod average 2.9 (5.8)

Some challenging conditions at Pitsford this week. The hot spell led to the water colouring up for a few days, although this is now dropping out and most areas are clear.

The boats are still outfishing the banks. However, we are starting to see huge amounts of shrimp, fry and snails in the margins so would expect the trout to be coming in to feed on them soon.

Best methods are either fab’s and boobies fished on floating lines with nymphs and buzzers in between washing line style, or dries.

Best bank fishing spots are Gravels, Pitsford Creek, the Flats and Rigbys with foam daddies and shrimp patterns are working.

There are fish in the Narrows, Brixworth Bay, the Pines and across the basin. A further stocking of 2,000 fish this week should help to freshen up the fishing.

Fish stocked: 2,000.
