Pitsford Water week ending 12 June

Fish Week 212 (Season 4107) Returns 71 (678) Rod average 3.0 (6.05)

It has been a frustrating week for most on Pitsford this week. Fish are showing all over the lake but have proved difficult to tempt for most with a rod average for the week of 3.0.

The fish behaviour led some to believe that they were feeding on Damsel nymphs in the top few inches of water but it is more likely that they are preoccupied on gorging on the vast amount of pinfry that are now showing. Sadly when the trout target this easy food source they can be very frustrating and difficult to tempt. Best methods have been floating or intermediate lines and teams of Diawl bach or crunchers. In overcast conditions dries such as Big Red, crippled midge or yellow owls have also been working.

Water clarity is good and all areas of the lake have reported fish with perhaps the best areas from the boat being the main bowl, narrows and dam.

From the bank try Rigbys, Sermons or the Gravels.

Best fish for the week; Brown 7lb8oz, Rainbow 4lb11oz.
