Pitsford Water week ending 30 May

Fish week 468 (Season 5,220) Returns 69 (718) Rod average 6.8 (7.3)

It has been another brilliant week on Pitsford with great quality fish coming to both boat and bank anglers. The best Rainbow of the week fell to a bank angler in Stone Barn Bay. This lovely 7lb 12oz fish was taken on a team of buzzers. The best Brown of the week was a 7lb plus specimen caught and safely released.

Other good catches included a 5lb 2oz Rainbow part of an eight fish catch. One angler released a 6lb 8oz Brown as well as a 4lb 8oz Rainbow in a catch of 7 fish. An angler fishing catch and release noted 15 fish caught with Browns to 5lb and Rainbows to 4lb. We are seeing numerous fish at generous weights.

The best tactics are still teams of nymphs or buzzers fished on floating or tip lines. Dries have worked later in the day.

All areas of the water are now producing fish and the water clarity is superb so expect the warmer weather to boost the hatches. We have seen plenty of daddies and hawthorns blown onto the water in the last week and the fish are feeding on these.

Best Rainbow: 7lb 12oz.

Best Brown: 7lb.
