Grafham Water week ending 24th March 2024

Rod average - 10.0

Grafham continues to fish well with a rod average of 10. As always at Grafham the sort of day you will have is totally dependant on the weather and in particular the wind direction.

Most of the fish are on the North shore with a few better overwintered fish being taken close to the Dam and in Gaynes Cove but they are sparse. There were reports of fish either side of the harbour earlier in the week but they seem to have moved off.

Best Bank areas have been pretty much anywhere along the North shore from the Stumps to 'G' with catches tailing off from 'G' to the Dam in the shallow water.

Best boat areas again all along the North Shore but not close in the anglers in the match on Sunday were between 100 and 300 yards off shore with a nice North  Westerly they could drift from the Stumps all the way down to G, so in effect a 2 mile drift.

Most of the boat anglers were catching on Di3, Di5 or Di7 pulling and twiddling on some variation of a washing line with Booby or Fab on the point 2 nymphs and a blob on the top  dropper. Bank anglers can use a similar method or twiddle hares ears and shrimps. However on the calmer days when its not too blowy straighline or bung buzzer set ups have taken a lot of fish.
