Although the fishing at Grafham has got slightly harder over the past week the rod average sits at an impressive 7.4
Lots of fish are still getting caught in the bays to the left and right of the harbour arms as well as savages creek and deep-water point. However there seems to be a better stamp of over wintered fish located around the willows at the north end of the dam. The majority of fish are still coming to buzzers but hares ears and lures such as the humongous are also taking good bags. There doesn’t seem to be any definitive depth to fish at the moment as fish seem to be moving up and down the water columns throughout the day. We would suggest starting on a floating line and varying your retrieve and depths until you find how the fish want it.
If fishing from the bank then the Harbour arms are producing plenty of fish, particularly in the evenings and early mornings. The seat has fished well as has the willows with most of the action coming early mornings or late evenings.
If fishing from a boat then savages, north shore and the lodge bank would be the go to areas but again this can change by the day so if you are planning a visit be sure to speak to the rangers on duty for any advice and tips on the day.
Tight lines and wet nets,
