Fish 157 (Season 36,319) Returns 91 (6,612) Rod average week 1.72 (5.58)
There are superb quality fish being caught at Rutland as we move through November. Both the bank and the boats are producing steady sport to anglers with floating lines and fry patterns being the mainstay. As has featured heavily all season, snail is still high on the menu for the Rainbows round the weedbeds. Good numbers of Rainbows over 4lb have been recorded this week and are certainly in great condition with the water cooling. Although fry patterns have been the favoured approach by anglers, diawl bach and dries have also taken fish, certainly on the calmer days wind wise (where good presentation is important).
Prospects look good with relatively mild weather this week and favourable wind strength. There is a good spread of fish around the reservoir still so don’t be afraid to keep on the move (bank or boat). Please remember that Browns are out of season and must be released as quickly as possible. The popular Fur and Feather match is scheduled to be fished from the bank on 5 December (pre payment required via the fishing lodge).
Best areas have been the harbour wall, Whitwell Creek, Stockie Bay, and Armley Wood to Carrot Creek on the peninsula from the bank. The same areas apply from the boats with the addition of Old Hall Bay, Sailing Club Bay, the Mound and Normanton bank.
Tackle shop hours – Our Lodges are open 8am to 2pm daily.
