Grafham Water week ending 2nd April 2023

Returns- 48, Fish killed- 80, Fish released- 214, Rod Average - 6.1

The fishing at Grafham has been sensational over the past week, with many anglers reporting 20+ Fish in a session. Many of the fish have been taken on buzzers but lures such as the humongous have also been fishing well and would seem to be taking the better Fish. This is backed up by an Angler who fished the willows and took 4 Fish all between 4-6lb in weight.

If its numbers your after we suggest heading over to the stumps as this has been by far the most productive area.

The seat and plummers has also fished well but, now that winter restrictions have been lifted, sanctuary bay and the area to the left of the lodge should not be ignored. We have seen plenty of fish moving in these areas undoubtedly feeding on the clouds of buzzers now appearing across the reservoir. Green and black buzzers such as the Pitsford pea would be a good starting point for targeting these fish.

With the Dam now closed again most of the bank anglers have been fishing the stumps with great results and one Angler reported 40+ fish in a session, this has been backed up many other reports of 20 + fish in the same area. If you do decide to fish the stumps, please take extra care whilst wading as the bottom is still soft and muddy underfoot. We would recommend using your net pole to feel for firm ground when entering the water and always ensure you can see daylight between your legs to stay safe and avoid going to deep.

Harbour Arms are starting to produce fish again and although they are not there in great numbers, they do tend to be the better over wintered fish.

Floating lines with a fab on the point and buzzers on the hang is expected to be the go-to method for the coming week, so if you are planning a visit make sure you've got your buzzers at the ready. And please don't hesitate to ask the Ranger team for any tips and info on the day.

We would also like to kindly remind people not to park along the track and instead stick to the designated Anglers car parks located around the reservoir.

Tight Lines and Wet nets,
