FISH WEEK 28 (SEASON 4961) RETURNS 24 (998) ROD AVERAGE 2.6 (5.06)

Predator Fishing

Firstly a big thank you to the predator day ticket anglers who filled in and submitted there catch returns. I have randomly pulled out a predator catch return for this weeks free boat voucher, it will be in the post by the end of the day. Thanks again for the return and the information as well.

Perch to 4lb 12 have been recorded this week in a catch that included 3 other large perch, lots and lots of smaller perch and a 10lb 4 Zander all taken off the north shore in 20ft of water on green lures. Pike of 22lb, 18lb and 11 lb have also been recorded. We have seen pictures of other large pike as well but without a weight.

The Predator anglers have been concentrated around the towers and in the mouth of the bays along the north shore. There are some cracking weed beds in Sanctuary bay and Gaynes Cove that are heaving with fry so the preds will not be far away.

Trout Fishing

Bank angling continues to be concentrated along the Dam wall with fish turning up for short periods throughout the day. Washing line tactic’s with either a booby fab or Daddy on the point and hares ear, diawl bach and pheasant tails up the line continues to work. A popper fry around the weed margins is also worth a shot as some of the better trout are switching on to the masses of fry.

There has occasionally been a big brown working the fry around the temporary pontoon once it has quietened down after the boats have gone out and in the evening once they are all in.

Boat angling has again been centred on the boils with any fly, any line and any retrieve all accounting for fish. PLEASE, please DO NOT anchor on or near the boils for two reasons 1 it ruins other anglers chances of enjoying the sport and 2 there is a high probability you will loose your anchor to the underlying structure (and will be charged for it).

Other areas worth exploring is close in along the Dam with similar tactics to the bank angler and along the edges of the weed beds where the fry are holding up.

There are a few daddies showing now as well but not yet in any great numbers.
