Taverham Mill Fishing

Set in Norfolk’s Wensum Valley and formed from mature gravel pits, Taverham Mill is a nature reserve which offers some of the best fishing lakes in Norfolk.

Along with nearly a mile stretch of the River Wensum, Taverham Mill also features four fishing lakes including the 22 acres, fully otter fenced, Mills lake.
For those looking for carp lakes in Norfolk, look no further. The Mill boast carp up to 35lb and tench to 9lb. Anglers can also fish for roach, perch, pike and even eels.

The Mills

With islands, peninsulas, lily pads and gravel bars, The Mills is stocked with approximately 350 mirror and common carp as well as tench and pike in the winter months and is perfect for anglers of all abilities.

Costessey No.1 Lake (day ticket water)

Newly opened, Lake No.1 offers three-acres of mixed fishing. Ideal for those new to the sport, the lake can be fished with a day permit.

Costessey No.2 Syndicate Lake (Ski Pit)

Stocked with around 80 mirrors and commons up to the mid-30lb mark, Lake No.2 is a mature gravel pit nestled with woodland. With plenty of underwater features and weeds adding to the challenge, Lake No.2 is popular with anglers and as such a waiting list is in operation.

Costessey No.3 Syndicate Lake

Once the holder for the county record for a mirror carp, Lake No.3 has fish up to 40lb within its waters! Despite its small size, this lake throws up many challenges and is recommended for competent anglers. Due to its popularity a season ticket waiting list is in play.

The catch...

Along with the lakes, anglers can also fish the beautiful River Wensum. Our ¾ mile stretch includes two weir pools as well as deep pools, shallow gravel runs, lilies, reeds and snaggy stretches. Anglers of all abilities can fish for chub, which are in large numbers weighing in at 3-5lb dace, roach, perch, pike and small barbel.

Fishing is permitted with a season ticket or for those staying in our great value accommodation. Along with the tranquil setting, you might also spot wildlife including otters, kingfishers, water fowl and barn owls.

To enhance your visit, you’ll find all the angling stock you need, including brands such as Korda, Solar, Nash, Gardner and Sticky Baits at the visitor centre.

With the high-quality fishing on offer, you are likely to not want to leave! Make the most of your fishing time by using our on-site accommodation facilities. From just £30 per person, per night, the price includes free fishing on the river and lake and our stretch of the River Wensum. Accommodation is available for up to eight people (three twin rooms and one double/ family room). PLEASE NOTE THE ACCOMMODATION AT TAVERHAM MILL IS CURRENTLY CLOSED DUE TO FLOOD DAMAGE.
