Ravensthorpe Trout Fishing

Anglian Water trout fisheries to open from 1 April
Following the Prime minister’s ‘road map’ announcement on 22 February, we can confirm that we are going to open Rutland, Grafham, Pitsford and Ravensthorpe waters for Fly fishing for Trout from bank and boat from the 1 April. Boat fishing will be for either single anglers or two anglers, but not three anglers sharing until further notice.

Special arrangements for boat bookings
Based on the ‘road map’ the fishing lodges will be unable to open until 12 April at the earliest, so all boats booked between the 1 April and the 11 April will need to be pre-paid at the point of booking, the same as how we operated for much of last season.

We are unable to take telephone bookings until 15 March
As we are currently busy processing renewals for our season ticket holders over the telephone, we are temporarily suspending taking any boat bookings over the phone. We would like to complete the process of renewing our season ticket holders first and we estimate this process will be completed by 14 March. If you are a 2020 season ticket holder and have not been contacted yet, please be patient.

We will open the phone lines on all waters for April 1st-11th bookings from Monday 15 March and we will take full payment at the point of booking for any boats booked between these dates. Any existing boats booked in for these dates will be honoured and the customer will be contacted for payment from 15 March. In the meantime, if you would like to book a boat beyond 11 April please email fishing@anglianwater.co.uk

Once the phone lines are open please ring the lodge direct you wish to book the boat at, with the exception of Ravensthorpe, their boats will need to be booked through Pitsford fishing lodge until the water opens on the 1 April.

Our planned pre-season stocking is continuing as normal in anticipation of a fantastic opening day

Please read the document below on Information and Operating Procedures.

To ensure we comply with social distancing and government guidelines, the fisheries will be observing new operating procedures. We ask that you respect these guidelines and follow them to ensure all our staff and visitors remain safe.

Ravensthorpe trout fishing is popular with anglers of all abilities, from those just starting out to seasoned anglers who enjoy a challenge.

Trout fishing at Ravensthorpe is usually available  from the end of February until 31 December. A range of permits are available to ensure you get the most from your visit.

Stocked in the early 1890s with trout, today Ravensthorpe is stocked with some 8500 rainbow trout each year. Larger fish, up to 15lb are stocked too.

Given the relatively shallow water, dry fly fishing is popular and early season buzzer fishing is exceptional.

Our reservoir is a great place for the whole family to relax in and enjoy the pleasures of outdoor life. When it comes to fishing our waters, children 16 and under fish for free with a full paying adult and sharing the daily and season bag limit. Children 7 years and older may fish from a boat as long as they are accompanied by an adult (21+ years).

Our on-site facilities include the fishing lodge which is perfect for stocking up on flies and leaders as well as a place to grab a hot drink or ice cream. Car parking facilities and toilets are also available.
