Pitsford Water Fishing Report - Week ending 1 April

Fish 327 (season 764) Returns 53 (174) Rod average 6.2 (4.4)

The fishing at Pitsford has dramatically improved this week with the fish seeming to wake up and begin to feed. We have seen the first significant buzzer activity with small black gnats hatching and the trout have responded with a very respectable rod average for the week of 6.2. In addition most anglers are reporting a good number of overwintered fish in their catches with lots of fish in the 3-4lb range.

Dave Jarvis made his annual trip up from London, catching 67 fish on his three day holiday boat package. His best fish weighed in at 5lb. His bag included many overwintered fish and most were caught using a bloodworm or buzzer. James Whelan had a cracking 8 fish bag with Rainbows of 4lb and 3lb and a Brown of 3lb 6oz.

Phil Jordan caught and returned 30 fish in two bank sessions catching on minkies or buzzer. Danny Peet and Rick Varley had a day afloat and boated 32 fish between them.  Season ticket holder Dave Anderson continued his good form and boat fished Bog Bay on Sunday, boating 38 fish on buzzer patterns. The best areas for boat and bank are Stone Barn, Bog Bay, Gravels and Gorse with fish coming to buzzer and bloodworm patterns or small dark lures.
