Fish week 798 (Season 22,462) Returns 185 (3,056) Rod average 4.31 (7.35)

Fish are still being caught in many areas of the lake from the top of the North Arm all the way through to the South. Tactics have varied with dries and nymphs on the bank, whilst boat anglers have also included lures, small and large blobs, boobies and tube flies etc.

There is variety of food available, from shrimp, snails, small buzzers (green) sedge and damsel nymphs. A few areas are showing signs of pin fry activity taking place.

Fish are in excellent condition with hard fighting Rainbows and Browns giving a great account of themselves, it is noticeable that this year’s early season stock Rainbows have got the ‘silver bloom’ in their tails.

A cracking bag of Rainbows went to a boat pair fishing fantastic nymph tactics at the bottom of the South Arm. One of the pair took the best fish of the week - a very thick set 8lb 7oz Brown with his boat partner taking a slightly smaller fish on the same day.

Prospects are very good with plenty of fish still close in for the bank angler. There are plenty of areas for boat anglers to fish, particularly the main basin in deeper water, but with lots of fish still close in the top of the North ArmGreen Bank to the shallow side of Old Hall Bay South Arm and Barnsdale are worth looking at.

Airflo Invitation Match 26 & 27 June
Rutland Water was in outstanding form with a total of 1,091 fish caught by 120 anglers over the two days of this competition.

Congratulations to Menteith Ospreys who won the trophy 16 fish ahead of the Welsh Hawks A in second place. The top prize winners were awarded cash and tackle prizes.

Tuesday night boat league 2021
Week 7 with 14 anglers venturing out, with a decision not to fish the boils, saw boats going in various directions for the night, fish were reported moving to buzzers whilst other groups of fish were busy targeting on this year’s pin -fry.

The best fish on the night was a 3lb 1½oz Rainbow caught on a dry fly

This week’s best rod was an angler with five fish taking the maximum ten points, this also meant a change in league leader with only two points separating the top two anglers.
