Fish 456 (Season 15,867) Returns 129 (2,682) Rod average 3.53 (5.91)

Both bank and boat anglers are enjoying good sport around the reservoir with 6,000 more fish stocked last week, anglers reported fish caught in many areas.

Other than the bottom of the arms, boats have also caught well along the Whitwell frontage to Ernies Point and East Creek to Normanton church.

Bank anglers have found fish along both sides of the main basin Whitwell to Sykes Lane (north shore) and Normanton through to East Creek plus Old Hall to Yellowstones and a few off the Green bank.

Fly hatches have been good with buzzers, diawl bach and hares ear working, along with beetles and a surprisingly large number of daddy long legs. Dry fly is working for some people.

This coming weekend all boats are booked as Rutland hosts the Bob Church Classic on Sunday with practice on Saturday. Early June is always a popular time for boat anglers so please phone the fishing lodge (01780 686441) to check for availability to avoid disappointment.

Brand new events for our anglers

Breakfast club fishing

This year at Rutland we are hosting some unique early morning events we are calling ‘Breakfast club’ The idea is to get out on the water early at the time of year when the water temperatures are starting to get quite high and have some sport before the sun gets right up.  You will be able to enjoy a chat and share your success with other anglers over a coffee and a cooked breakfast (included in the price). Fishing will commence at 5am until 11am with breakfast served shortly after.

We will be hosting Breakfast club fishing on the following days:
June 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th (all Saturdays).

Although rangers will be on-site early to assist and prep the boats, the fishing lodge won’t be opening until 8am (as usual)  so Breakfast club fishing will need to be paid in advance.
