Rutland Water week ending 24th July

Fish week (season total ), Returns Rod average

Fairly quiet week as expected due to the intense heat that was forecast. However fish were caught from mid-week onwards as temperatures cooled down somewhat. Good numbers of rainbows showed in general a good mixture of fish including 3lb plus specimens. The main area that fished was the main basin (in and around the aerators). Various lines being used from floaters down to fast, to very fast sinkers.

Prospects: Obviously cooler conditions would be beneficial with the reservoir receiving very strong winds on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, which helped to move the very hot surface levels around. Water clarity is very good considering what's happened recently. There are plentiful amount of Fry around this season with the Perch already 2 to 3 '' long with the odd sign of fish already showing interest.
