Rutland Water Week Ending 1st September 2024

Rod Average - 3.0

Things have started to pick up with fish being caught in a number of areas, this was just before 5,000 stock fish were released in the Last seven, eight days, which were released at Half moon spinney and the Sailing club respectively.
Bank anglers had been reporting catching off the peninsula and the Normanton Bank with fish moving close in that are still feeding on Snails, and Shrimp in general, with dries, c.d.c's and nymphs  working best.
Boats have found fish close in and also out over the deeper water, with the main basin and around the peninsula seeing the most action.Out of the two ends of the reservoir, the South arm has seen some interest and a few fish caught, however the top of the North arm is very quiet,  Boat anglers reported using anything from floaters, with dries, and nymphs, to various sinking lines, with boobies,  Blobs and nymph combinations, To Humungus and snakes, fished on fast sinking lines, Di-7' etc, and it was a black snake that accounted for the biggest fish reported recently,  with season ticket holder  Mike Skipper netting a superb quality brown in the 8/9lb category from the North arm.
Regarding Brown's, there are reports of big fish starting to show interest, but not many committing themselves yet.

So far there are hardly any reports of fry feeding, of which there is a real plentiful supply this season with great numbers holding up around the many weed beds, with Perch, and Roach, in some of which are well over 3" long!  Keep a look out in some cases for bird activity showing where the fry are.
Daddy long-legs are slowly starting to show around the shoreline, but as yet no reports of fish showing interest.

Prospects,
Looking very good, definitely no shortage of food, water clarity is excellent

Predator fishing (Boat & Lure fishing only )
