Fish 528 (season 23,901) Returns 259 (4,052) Rod average 3.18 (5.89)

259 rod returns gave an overall rod average of 3.24 for the week at Rutland Water.  Some anglers are having a testing time with lots of reports of fish moving to pinfry in good numbers especially for boat anglers. Bank anglers fared better with the Whitwell area providing sport plus Normanton/Fantasy Island and Sailing Club.  Toff Crowther is enjoying another brilliant season with not only specimen fish but with plenty of back up fish as well. Toff fished with his granddad Tony Tibbert last week and the pair found quality fish down the North Arm. Toff returned Browns up to 7lb whilst Tony had Browns to 4lb plus, along with Rainbows to 3¾lb.  Toff went out again two days later with tackle shop assistant Graham Hayward and the pair fished down the North Arm taking 6 quality Rainbows to 22lb with Graham reporting Browns up to 6lb.

A good tactic with the pin fry feeding fish is with dry fly on suspender hares ear. Keep making regular casts to these fish as they make their way through the fry. It has been noted that this year’s Perch fry are already a good length, with one or two showing dying or dead on the surface, so use small suspender minkies (the tackle shop has a cracking fly to use for these fish).
