Rod Average - 5.0
Rutland is still maintaining it's form considering the time of the season with a rod average of 5, boat anglers catching fish in a good few areas again,
A major clubs match was held last Saturday with a very respective rod average 4.8 was achieved.
Two people fishing the Tuesday night boat league had a very active 3 hours fishing, catching 20 fish from the main basin, It's not just that area is fishing at the moment though, with the South arm, Manton bay and the Sailing club still producing results, Anglers in the North arm have found fish in Barnsdale creek.
Last week however a New Area this season due to the recent heavy rain about saw water being pumped in from the respective rivers Nene and Welland basically in between the Sailing club and the Spud bay area of the reservoir, Anglers were quick to notice the massive numbers of fish in this spot, and the ones retained were found to be absolutely stuffed with Daphnia!! Please be aware though that when the pumps are turned off again I.e no water coming in, expect the fish to move off elsewhere.
Tactics for boat anglers has been varied anything from floating lines, Nymphs, Hares ear, Dial Bach Cruncher etc, to dries, Hares ear Yellow Owel, Shipmans etc fish still coming "blind" for dries by the way.
Various sinking lines, from slow to fast sink, with nymph ,lure combinations, Boobies, Blobs etc to large lures snakes, Humungus etc.
Bank anglers have been catching fish along Sykes Lane, the "MAY" tree Bank (opposite the fishing lodge peninsula,) and Normanton on mainly nymphs and dries.
Plenty of food available, with Snails, Shrimp, very small buzzers, sedge, fry, perch&roach, and already mentioned daphnia, with some coriander being reported in fish from Manton bay
Prospects
Are good, water clarity is excellent, water levels are very high for this time of year, plenty of food available, shouldn't be long when the fish get onto this years fry, of which there is a plentiful supply this season, a further 3,500 rainbows were stocked in the Sailing club area on Monday bringing the season's total to 56,500
