Fish week 254 (Season 29,584) Returns 84 (4,765) Rod average 3.02 (6.2)

Quality rainbows and browns have featured this week in catches here at Rutland. Good numbers of 3lb plus rainbows up to 5lb 8oz have shown to anglers fishing the extensive weedbeds with Blue Pipes to the Church, Yellowstone Bay, mouth of Whitwell Creek and Browns Island down to Cattle Trough/Lax Hill. Graham Hayward shared 20 fish to the boat on Saturday with fry patterns on sinking lines being the tactics. Best brown of the week fell to a hummungus fished on di3 tipping the scales to 9lb 9oz.

Last week’s rudder match was won with 13 fish for an impressive 33lb 14oz. The rangers have carried out some weed cutting this week along Green Bank, Old Hall, New Zealand Point, Spud Bay and Stocky Bay to allow for better access for bank anglers in the coming weeks.

The water has dropped relatively quickly over the last few weeks bringing the extensive weed beds to the surface. Stocking continued for the week with 2,000 Rainbows introduced. Good luck and tight lines to all competitors taking part in the Scierra Pairs final this coming weekend, conditions are looking good for a great competition!

With the predator season now well under way and a busy time for competitions many days are already fully booked and several more have limited availability. To avoid disappointment please book your boats direct with the fishing lodge by calling 01780 686441.
