Rod Average - 1.0

The prolonged hot weather has put numbers of anglers off coming to the reservoir, as well as others going on their summer holidays at this time of the year, However,  Fish are still being caught with boat anglers faring best, The main basin has produced on most occasions, not always around the Aerators though, as they were turned off last week.
People caught took long drifts over the deeper  water there  A lot of fish were definitely not necessarily deep, As some were caught high up, with even floating lines being used to good effect, Various flies were used from mini lures, to lure, nymph, combinations etc. Rudder anglers caught as well with fit Rainbows showing.
Anglers who decided to fish other areas of the reservoir, did catch but not in great numbers, with a couple of people saying that they had  some interest  of fish coming to Popper/ Suspender minkies but received very few actual takes.
All fish caught are in excellent condition, with Rainbow's reported to over 4lb last week, Season ticket holder Clive Simmons reported the best fish of the week being a Brown of 5-1/2lb this fish fell to  sinking line tactics and a "Humungus" a fly and method that has worked well for Clive this season, having netted a 7lb Brown the previous week, along with other big specimens this year.

Bank anglers have been very few and far between, There is plenty of access still available around the shoreline though, despite the water levels dropping steadily due to the hot weather, and customer demand.
The water clarity/visibility is superb again,  Water temperatures were taken showing 19 degrees that were recorded last Tuesday, which is amazingl low for the time of year.

Food items in fish that have been even taken consists again of Snails, being the definite majority, in various sizes, from, large to small.
Shrimp as well, have virtually taken up the rest in stomach contents,There is next to no/little fly life showing, However,  Though it's s not on the Trouts menu yet!, The reservoir really has a massive amount of fry about, Roach/ Perch etc. Are in huge numbers, hopefully it won't be long before they turn their attettention to this massive, and plentiful stock of food, which are now anything from 1-1/2 to 3" inches plus in length.

Flies that have been used again has been varied   from Dries, c,d,c's  Hares ear Yellow Oweis, Nymphs, Hares ear, Diwal Bach, Cruncher etc.
Lures
Blobs, Boobies etc, in Various colours,, Large lures "Snakes" various colours again, Humungus, in black & silver, white & silver, Fry patterns are just starting to get/ show interest.

Prospects,
The nights are starting to pull in now, so slowly but surely fish will start to feed harder,  anticipation and expectations towards the Autumn are very high indeed.

Boat demand
This will start to increase dramatically right at the end of this month (August) so be aware of this to avoid disappointment, remember to go online to book your boat, thank you.
