Fish 1,853 (season 23,076) Returns 454 (3793) Rod average 4.08 (6.08)

Toff Crowther and Graham Hayward had a cracking day’s boat fishing at the bottom end of the South Arm last Saturday, taking an incredible 33 fish, with virtually all of these caught on dry fly, yellow owels and hares ear cdc’s. Toff also took a Brown estimated at 5lb plus.

Boat anglers are reporting lots of fish on the surface but they are proving hard to tempt. Fish are feeding on a wide variety of food including pin fry, shrimp, buzzers and daphnia.

Fish are being found from New Zealand Point via Gibbets Gorse to Manton and are feeding hard on the pin fry, moving close to the bank – but even more fish are to be found in the open water in the wind lanes. Fish can be caught on dries and cdc patterns on the floater and also on glass slow sinking lines, getting the fish to follow then slowing things down. They are still hard to tempt from the dry.

Fish have been caught on a variety of lines at the Dam ranging from slow sinking lines on overcast days to Di8’s in brighter conditions. They are still taking buzzers fished deep.

On the bank Old Hall, Stockie Bay and Whitwell Creek are all fishing well with local angler Richard Hearth having 11 nice Rainbows to 3lb in Whitwell Creek on small lures and nymphs. He then called into Burley Reaches on his way home to catch two pin fry feeding fish – these were both over 4lb - not bad going for his first bank outing of the season.
