Latest news from Rutland Water
The fishing at Rutland Water over the past week has been challenging with cloudy days producing good quantities of fish and quality fish throughout the lake with the south performing better than the north. Fish have been found to be feeding on shrimp and pin fry with a scattering of late small buzzers. Best methods have been dries or a washing line with nymphs and a fab or booby on the point. Fish have been caught very close into the banks as well as in open water. On sunny, brighter days the fishing has been harder, however, fish are showing well around the aerators on lures and fast sink lines. The open water has been favourable on these brighter days when away from the boils.
Best areas have been Old Hall, Green Bank, Hideaway, Yellowstones and New Zealand Point, with the main basin producing more consistently.
Rutland Water hosted a leg of the Lake Challenge on 19 and 20 June which fished well with good reports of Zander, Perch and Pike.
Tuesday night boat league 2021
Ten anglers managed a very respectable 39 fish in Week 6 of this popular evening boat league. The best fish on the night (for a free mid week boat voucher) was a 3lb 15½oz Rainbow. The league leader sits on 32 points, just 5 points ahead.
