Ravensthorpe week ending 9th June 2024

Rod Average - 4.0

Ravensthorpe continues to maintain a solid rod average of 4 as we move towards the middle of June.  A cool start to the month has meant that the water temperature has stayed lower than usual with fish feeding right up in the water.

At the weekend we hosted a mixed pairs match in which 99 fish were caught and despite the cold conditions, the fish were actively feeding on top of the water.  The feedback was that the quality of the fish was also excellent.

Dries are now the flies of choice - with pleasure anglers reporting getting into double figure bags when the conditions are right. CDCs, shipmans and Cripple midge are popular choices.

Anglers are still catching on Nymphs, with diawl bachs being a popular choice.

Outlook - the forecast shows the weather will remain cool, so there's a good chance the fishing will remain excellent as we head towards July.
