Fish week 116(Season 274) Returns 40 (100) Rod average 2.9 (2.74)

The second week of the new season at Ravensthorpe has seen an increase in the rod average to 2.9. The best methods continue to be lures fished in deep water. There is evidence from some of the fish spooned that small damsels and black buzzer are in now in the diet, although catches on buzzers are not yet plentiful.

One pike angler caught the fish of a lifetime at Ravensthorpe on Sunday 6 March. He was targeting large trout and went out for a drift and got the surprise of his life when a monster pike hammered his metallic silver UV straggle streamer at around 12 feet deep. Eventually it came to the net weighing in at 34lb before being carefully returned.

Best Rainbow: 7lb 8oz.

Best boat areas: Island and Central.
