Rod Average - 7.0
Well what a difference a week makes.
Whether it was the rise in temperature or the recent stocking or a combination of both Pitsford has fished fantastically well over the weekend with a rod average of 7. The actual rod average is likely higher as we have heard of some season ticket holders catching huge numbers of fish but their returns have not been posted yet.
Fish have been caught from many areas of the lake with the best areas being Northfields shore up to Stone Barn, Bog Bay, Stilton Point along to Gorse and the Cliffs.
Both bank and boat anglers have confirmed the fish are sitting in the top 3-4 feet with floating and tip lines working well. Fast glass lines appear to be the deepest you need to go.
Fly wise the usual early season patterns such as black and green or coloured blobs are working with some fish starting to come to buzzers too.
On Sunday the local club the Mid Northants FFC held a bank match. This match was fished to a total catch and release with your best two fish measured. The best two fish length was 97cms, caught by Barry Jones. His best two fish were both overwintered fish around the 4lb mark. The rod average for the match was 9. Barry caught his fish on the Cliffs while other members caught best in Bog Bay and Stilton.
The best reported fish for the week was a Brown Trout estimated at between 6-7lb, caught by Phillip Jordan.
