Pitsford Water week ending 8 September

With 4,500 fish being stocked in Pitsford this month the fishing is guaranteed to continue to be excellent. The fish being stocked are in fantastic condition with the majority over 1 kg in weight.

The 2,000 fish stocked last week have already spread out and were being caught in the Narrows and along the Brixworth Sailing Club banks over the weekend.

The pick of the catch returns this week is a Brown trout estimated at between 7½ - 8lb this lovely fish was caught and returned by season ticket holder Peter Ward. The fish took a shrimp pattern fished on Sailing Club bank.

Mr J Spencer of Northampton had a good morning afloat, catching and releasing 11 Rainbows.

Gavin Friell and Graham Smith boat fished on Sunday and had a great day. The highlight was when Graham caught a stunning Brown trout estimated between 5-6lb which was safely returned. Between them Gavin and Graham boated around twenty fish on diawls and ptn’s on the Sailing Club frontage.

Mr Rhys and Mr Llewellyn from Wales enjoyed their fishing holiday and had a good day catching their 16 fish limit in the main bowl.

Graham Jarvis came for his customary three day holiday package, managing twenty fish.

On Sunday Invicta FFC held a club match and twenty four anglers fished, catching 83 fish for a rod average of 3.5. Top rod was Keith Gilchrist with 11 fish; second was Chris McLeod with eight fish and in third equal place was David Moore, Wayne Allen and Jeff Hickson with three fish each.

Bank anglers are finding fish in the margins on shrimp. Bob Aves had ten fish on Saturday morning on the sailing club bank. The Gravels and Cliffs are also fishing when the wind is right.

Mid week boat winner: Mr G Holloway.

Fish stocked: 2,000.

A monthly open session for beginners at Pitsford where fully trained instructors are on hand to offer advice on fly casting, fly tying and water craft. Non members welcome. All sessions are 2-5pm
