Pitsford Water week ending 7 April

Fish 267 (Season 3,001) Returns 59 (498) Rod average 4.5 (5.9)

Pitsford Water has slowed a little with the colder north easterly wind. The rod average for the week is still a very reasonable 4.5.

The fish are still taking buzzer but have been feeding deep. The exception to this has been first thing in the morning or late on in the day when dries have taken some lovely fish once the wind has dropped.

There have been plenty of nice fish coming to the net; best brown of the week a nice 5lb plus specimen and a Rainbow to 4½lb.

On Monday Invicta FFC held a Carr Cup boat match where 30 anglers caught 211 fish for an impressive rod average of 7. Alan Briggs was top rod and had a lovely 5lb 1oz Brown after he had caught and killed his four fish, so it was photographed and returned. Chris McLeod was second, with Dave Summers third. Dave had the best Rainbow with a fish of 3lb 8oz. David Moore also caught and returned a Brown of 5lb plus in the match.

Most fish were caught on buzzer patterns fished either straight lined or under a bung with lots of fish off Duffers and Bog Bay.
