Fish 314 (Season 7,325) Returns 66 (1,240) Rod average 4.8 (5.9)

The rod average for the week at Pitsford is 4.8. Pitsford continues to fish very well with various methods working and fish spread throughout the lake.

Browns are still showing in good numbers and lots of fish between 5-9lb have been reported. These fish are hitting fry patterns and sunk lines. There were some good Browns recorded this week including two estimated at 9lb and 7lb taken by Neil Walker on a floating line while bank fishing.

The Rainbows are feeding in the top couple of feet and are coming to floating or midge tip lines with washing line tactics best. Hares ear, shrimp, snails and fry are all on the menu and fish are being caught from the bank in the shallows.

Boat anglers are catching fish in the narrows, main basin and dam.

On Sunday members of the Mid Northants Fly Fishers held their Fur and Feather match, fished to a four fish kill format with no Browns to be killed.

Beginners Courses: 9 & 31 October; 7 November. To book a place please call the lodge on 01604 781350.
