Pitsford Water week ending 4 August

Fish 134 (Season 11,621) Returns 35 (2,041) Rod average 3.8 (5.7)

The rod average for the week is 3.8 with some nice fish coming out to various methods and fish reportedly being caught in the Narrows and Stone Barn as the weather cools slightly.

Best methods have included deep fished buzzers, damsels on intermediates and foam daddies on top. Shrimp are also starting to appear on the menu and small hares ear patterns are also working.

Gavin Friell used the above tactics, fishing size 14 and 16 hares ear patterns on a floating line to tempt 19 fish with four fish between 3-4lb, and losing a Rainbow estimated at 6-7lb. Gavin was drifting around the flats and mouth of Pitsford Creek.

Another angler doing well and varying his tactics to tempt fish, was Allan Wither who caught and released seven fish on buzzers.

Stuart Foulds also reported a good day catching and releasing 11 fish.

Bank sport has been a little harder, but if you are prepared to fish first or last thing in the day then you will be rewarded with fish coming in close to feed on shrimp.

Throughout August the ‘Senior Tuesday’ offer has been extended to Thursdays so why not take advantage of these reduced boat prices.
